  The new HP StorageWorks DLT VS160 Tape Drive provides 160 GB capacity and 16 MB/s performance compressed. This is double the capacity and performance of the DLT VS80, reducing the overall cost of ownership, increasing the capacity in a single tape drive, reducing the number of cartridges needed to store the same amount of information and resulting in less downtime needed for back-ups. The DLT VS160 is a half-height drive based on DLT tape technology. Customers who have outgrown previous-generation DLT drives can move to the DLT VS160 and get increased capacity and performance and backward-read compatibility with the DLT VS80 formatted media. The DLT VS160 media can be read by the SDLT 600 providing a longer-term upgrade solution when customers outgrow the DLT VS160.
